Participation

Celebrate your high street

The Streets is about local ownership; it’s about connecting communities to their high streets and showcasing each area as exciting, sociable and vibrant places to be.

To do this, we need your help.

We need your ideas and your stories for what will make your high street a better place for your community. To share these with us, contact your local Council Officer or tell us on Twitter with #TheStreetsLondon.

There are numerous ways to participate in The Streets project:

There are numerous ways to participate in The Streets project:

Serious Sing

A pop-up participatory singing project where you have the opportunity to develop vocal skills and performance techniques, culminating in a public performance.

Pop up shops

Turn an unused shop into a stage; take over a cafe after hours and deliver something unexpected on your high street.

Workshops

Local groups will have the opportunity to work with internationally renowned and local artists to develop skills and deliver a unique performance.

Your Projects

Let us know if you have any pre-existing activity planned which could fit within The Streets programme; or if you would like to create something new which could work with one of our strands, for example the EFG London Jazz Festival, we want to hear about it.

Keep up to date on our Events page and on Twitter with #TheStreetsLondon.

Get involved, be inspired, see the impact.

If you're enthusiastic about your local area's history, there's lots of ways to get involved with our Heritage Lottery Funded Project Discover Your High Street too.

We plan to deliver a heritage trail, pop up exhibition and publication in conjunction with a programme of events taking place in and around each borough’s high street in mid November. In order to meet these outcomes, the small team of fantastic volunteers will assist with research into the last 100 years of history of the high streets and help deliver talks and tours during the events.

Please see our role description for our Research Volunteer position.

For more information, or to participate by sharing a memory of one of our high streets, please contact Grace Lindley, Project Assistant via email: grace.lindley@serious.org.uk or Daniella Hadley, Heritage Co-ordinator on Daniella.Hadley@richmond.gov.uk.

We'd love to hear from you!
