Fantasy High Street – Talking Tulips

Talking Tulips was an interactive art installation created specifically for Leicester Square commissioned by Heart of London Business Alliance. Containing over 1,500 artificial tulips, in wooden boxes designed for the flowers beds on one side of the square, the tulips moved and talked to people as they passed by. Using an innovative combination of visual arts and trigger sensor technology, the installation included a series of funny, family-friendly character tulips who talked to visitors about the history of Leicester Square, greeted people in numerous languages and even included a tulip choir that sung at people who approached them.

Fantasy High Street is a not-for-profit arts organisation celebrating the local high street as an essential community hub. By placing performance and visual artists in town centres, they create interactive experiential events to transform public space and shops within high streets into playgrounds for imagination, providing residents and businesses with adventures in the heart of their communities.
